Top view- A Trek to Remember..

A gang of 15 guys set out to trek carrying 15 bottles of H2O and two 4 rupees Parle-g pack biscuits. This was all the resources that we had when we left our campus. Apart from this as usual the breakfast which hadly anyone ate much. The reason for all these limited edition package of resources was that we didn't know what we had to face ahead.

A walk to the starting of the mountain around two kilometers from the campus was all good, guys full of enthusiasm enjoying each moment taking snaps every 50 meters we travelled :P.

Thanks to few villagers who were supposed to know the place or as we all assumed they do know we went the wrong direction from what was planned. And this path turned out little too heavy. Initially the climb, the path everything seemed just the right start for a comfortable trek. But as it progressed deep into the mountains the forest grew dense and consisted full of thorns and creepers which acted as the speed breakers. A fair good amount of distance climbed and we were ready for the first break. All of us here rested for a while, few of us preferred to loaf around here and there rather resting. After this we set ourselves again into the mission top elephant hill.

Now the path was never the same as there lacked enough open space to climb up as easily. Few of us took the lead in searching (making if necessary) the paths. Few had to be escorted as were loosing energy and strength, thanks to humidity in the jungle. On our ways we could see the scenic beauties as we were pretty high above the ground level already. We could view the campus so small already. The scenic beauties always encourages one to give out his best even in worst conditions. After crossing and climbing up through the bushes, thorns and creepers we reached a decent high where we all decided to take rest have enough liquid and everyone managed to get 1 biscuit each. The whole trekking consisted of many breaks as it was well needed to conserve energy before one could give out his go for the next stage of the climbing. Now few of the guys were exhausted and decided to drop out climbing further. Rest of us moved on with the trekking.

The climb was getting tougher and tougher as majority of liquid that was brought was consumed irrelevantly. We had to make most of what we had and above all the sun was out and we had already traveled for 2.5 hours and not yet reached the destination. As we crossed a very steep stage of mountain we could see the densest part of the jungle ahead of us and after that was the steepest about 60-65 degrees of climbing required purely on rocks.

There was no space to even seep through the bushes here and we had to force ourselves through the bushes as many of us got pricked and hurt by the thorny plants. This was the time when few of us started feeling the heat as it ate away lot of energy from us. Then after the crossing of the dense part we were at the base of the rocks that had to be climbed. Here most of the guys dropped out because of the very limited amount of liquid available and the energy that was needed to climb was not sufficient. And it had to be saved for way back down too.

Five of us decided to climb further on the steepest of rocks. The process was very slow and consumed most of the remaining energy as we climbed and covered distance. This was high time for concentration as we had to double check each step we took up as one wrong step and it could take us all the way down into the dense thorny bushes down. Though the fear was somewhere in the hearts we never let it overtake our desires and will to reach the top. A small base in the steepest of rocks and we decided to rest a while. Now all we had for five of us was 1/4th liquid of a bottle. It was the time we realized the necessity and importance of water. There was hardly a sip for each and each one needed at least two bottles. We decided to save most of the liquid for the toughest situation if encountered and had just half a sip which wet our throats and lips. As we climbed further up checking each step of ours when my legs started shivering lacking enough liquid in the body. Thanks to the less breakfast a dosa and a glass water that was all I had. But that never let me stop in middle nor was it a good idea to stop in middle of the steepest part. Somehow after 4.5 hours of intense climbing we were on top. The first thing which we did was shouting on top of the voice making sure the nature around listens to the victory of ours on her in this regard. We rested for around 10 minutes lying down and gathered lot of our energy back. The victory had to be celebrated and this was done capturing the moment and the scenes below ripping off the tops we wore and posing the ugliest posible way in the tired mooood!!!

The sense of accomplishment of a goal so high was enough to lift our spirits. The wonderful natural beauty was immense and mind blowing. The top view was all what we aimed and that was all what we got...
