Male chauvinistic INDIA

I'm moved by the death of Damini, the victim of heinous rape in Delhi. The pain she underwent is way beyond my imagination. I have no rights to tell if I say I understand her pain. No I don't, nor do anyone else. She battled through the odds for fourteen days before she decided to let go herself off this chauvinistic society. The glares she would have got from her neighbors, the unneeded attention at hang-outs, the unwanted sympathies, the brutal comments by the people of medieval-period-mentality, the rejections and the trauma of the incident for an entire life. She decided not to be part of this society. The age old traditions in India, which tie a girl from the growth and prejudicing based on the same myths and beliefs is mere fact of the pathetic state we are living in here now. The fact that our religions and their beliefs are based on these male chauvinistic approaches sites evidence of the instilled mentality what people have in their minds. A girl is asked to enter i

Women in India.

I've seen my sisters grow along with me, playing and mingling with boys, having fun as normal kids. I've seen them cry when they disliked others' comments on their appearance. I've seen them fight and I've seen them apologize. I've also seen the lovable little mischievous things they do. I've seen the ever lasting love for themselves. Yes, they love themselves more than anybody. To hurt their ego is to face their fury. To soften, within the warmth of loving arms, is to gain their love. Yes, they are special, like all the girls and women. Not many enjoy the freedom and live life to the fullest. Their life is dictated within the constrained boundaries of parents, brothers, boy friend and husband. These dominantly decide the path they have to lead their lives through. A popular share goes this way,"In India parents warn their kids not to talk to strangers, to keep distance and not to entertain any attention from them. And an unfortunate day, they let th

Unique Identification Number(UIN) to counter corruption

India today is rattled with the deeds of corruption and malfunctioning of the system. The history of corruption dates back from ages before. Various factors determine the intensity and the need to go corrupt. Greed being the most important factor. A human nature is to be restless and be never satisfied. The thirst to own wealth and strive to achieve more makes every human compete with his fellow mate. Factors like reputation and power thus associated with wealth gets added to the list. India today is in no position to preach people the ways to train the human mind to restrain from the greed. The only way to counter this is to monitor and create a transparent system that would bring the deeds of every person to the visibility of the system. The system could be made efficient by giving it the tools to prevention of corruption. One such tool could be the method of assigning an Unique Identification Number to every citizen. Which is already in place. The ways in which it can be used a

Why Atheism?

The world today is a plain composition of blind traditions and beliefs. None of which serves to be more than just a blindfolded path, that one is walking on. Seems like the world has stopped thinking. The logical conclusions and pragmatic approach to life seems mere thoughts. Well, the above lines may just seem to be the perfect start to the question arisen in the title. The pessimist inside may iterate the words above but the better optimist knows the world will change. Firstly, what is Atheism?  In the "Atheism" page of wikipedia the definition goes somewhat this way: "Atheism is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities. In a narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities." Mine is different though:      Atheism is a state where a person believes in himself more than anything or anyone. It is the state where a person thinks and broadens his mind to the facts of the scientific researches.
