Why respect oneself?

Situations have frozen me down many times before I decide to get up and hit back at the problems harder than before. The inner me always tells me I am the most important. I be happy and I keep everyone around me happy. The situations demand you to be selfless, the situations demand you to be selfish, but no matter what, the decision is upon you to hover upon the reflexes and satisfy yourself first for.
You respect yourself first and later the world. The confident person would carry the burden of many, but how would a person carry the burden when he/she cannot hold up to himself and tell the world that the most important thing in the world is to keep yourself happy at all times. There's no deed which is selfless. Every deed has a self satisfying motive behind it. The whole dilemma, then is to prioritize upon what would keep up your spirits high.
Throughout the evolution of humankind, our ancestors and we have always relied upon our instincts to decide in toughest of situations. The ideas vary and advice are heard yet not instilled in you, lest the inner you let them touch you. In the end you'll only listen to what you want to listen to. The self belief plays a major role in driving yourself through harshest of conditions and get you out as a survivor. When you respect yourself, you accept your weaknesses, play hard with your strengths. The positive outlook of a person drives one to keep the people around him happy. Happiness is not a criteria of life, it's a necessity. An emotion that is stronger than any other. The whole concept of life and its journey revolves around keeping yourself happy.
Ego is an evil and that destroys you, for that lets the devil rest in your mind and shut all the other doors leading to irrational thoughts and subdued conscious. The anger in you resists the actions that are perceived by you. It's reaction. When something that could restrain your happiness, the mind triggers the reaction in the form of anger. The ego and anger are contradictory. Ego shuts down your reactions. Anger enhances your reactions and mostly in negative sense.
To be able to come back to the normal state and not be affected by happenings, one needs to find peace with oneself. Realize that the most important thing is you and to let you down through the emotions like sadness and anger is crime being committed against oneself.
